Tales from the Altamaha is an award-winning Georgia folk-life play performed at the historic Blue Marquee Theater in downtown Lyons. The play is based on the writings of Colonel T. Ross Sharpe, a local attorney born and raised on the Altamaha River. Sharpe wrote a series of essays in the local newpaper, The Lyons Progress, during the 1950s and 60s about settlers of the area surrounding the Altamaha river. Tales from the Altamaha continues in its 11th year with 'Round the Bend, a new selection of stories interwoven with bluegrass music performed by the "River Rat Review Band." As always, the cast and crew are excited to put on a show for you! Don't miss this cultural celebration steeped in the southern traditions unique to rural South Georgia. Make plans now to embark on the ride of a lifetime as you experience the lives, loves, losses, scandals, and just plain 'ol gossip that are Tales from the Altamaha. Make sure to buy your tickets early and be prepared to sing along!
