There are many reasons most of the film and television production activity in Georgia takes place in the metro Atlanta area. Great food is a no-brainer. The world's busiest airport means a choice of direct flights for producers and cast. Nightlife, professional sports teams, world-class hotels (91,000 rooms) and cultural diversity make Atlanta a great place for crews to stay and work. And producers save money by staying close to the city, so no additional travel expenses for the company are incurred. Stages are here, as well as production support services. But perhaps most importantly, the metro area offers an abundance of locations—from mansions to working-class neighborhoods, and colleges campuses, shopping centers, office buildings, downtown streets, secluded parks, rivers, rolling hills and acres of farms dot the landscape close by. Atlanta has a lot working in its favor as a production center.
