Covington is best at promoting its own history as a location for filming. More than 60 projects have shot here, including "The Dukes of Hazzard," "In the Heat of the Night" and "Road Trip." It is currently playing the part of Mystic Falls on the CW series "The Vampire Diaries." It's Southern, it's picturesque and it's close enough to Atlanta that filmmakers can sleep in their midtown hotel beds each night. The newly launched www.gocovington.com is full of information, including film history, shooting locations and tour options.
