Released in 1991, this feature film was based on the Fannie Flagg novel and was primarily shot in Juliette, Georgia. The double narrative plot involves an unhappy housewife (Kathy Bates) who befriends an older nursing home resident (Jessica Tandy) and becomes enthralled with the latter's tales of Idgie (Mary Stuart Masterson), Ruth (Mary-Louise Parker) and the cafe they run.
