1977's "Greased Lightning" starred Richard Pryor in the true life story of Wendell Scott, the first black stock car racing driver to win an upper-tier NASCAR race. Beau Bridges and Pam Grier also star in the film which filmed its racing scenes at the old Middle Georgia Speedway in Byron, Georgia. The Speedway hosted NASCAR races from 1966 - 1971, but is best known as the home of the 1970 Atlanta International Pop Festival  where Jimi Hendrix and the Allman Brothers Band performed to a crowd of 300,000 people.
